CHAPTER SIXTEEN

“I’ll be right back,” Oliver said as he pulled out of him, turned and walked to the bathroom. Matt watched him go, watched as he took off the condom and tossed it into the trash before looking at himself in the mirror.

What was he thinking? Matt wondered. Hell, he could ask that of himself. Why in the world had he come upstairs and told Oliver he needed him? Why had he felt like he had? He couldn’t even blame it on the alcohol as it had long left his system.

“Do you need a towel or anything?” Oliver asked.

Matt’s voice cracked when he said, “No.” He sat up, grabbed the towel from the floor and wiped the come off his stomach.

Christ, he’d just fucked Oliver. His best friend. The man who looked at him like he walked around kicking puppies when he’d discovered Matt had an open relationship with Parker. The man who wasn’t into sex for the sake of sex or hooking up.

Fear suddenly clawed at him, ripped through his insides like a wild animal viciously attacking him. What if he’d screwed up? What the hell would he do if he’d fucked up his friendship with Oliver because he’d been feeling lost? Because he’d been feeling alone? Because he read a book that tore up his insides and then played the piano which shredded them more?

“We’re okay, aren’t we?”

Oliver headed back his way. He stood naked in front of Matt. His dick was soft now, hanging between his legs. Matt eyed his hairy thighs, the definition in his abdominal muscles and the softness in his face. He really was a gorgeous man, outside as well as inside.

“Why wouldn’t we be okay? It was sex, Matt. I’m a big boy. Don’t treat me with kid gloves because you don’t think I can handle fucking my best friend and then moving on. We were horny. We had sex. Nothing changed. You wouldn’t have asked that question if I were Chance or Miles.”

“Maybe because the answer wouldn’t have held the same weight.” It likely made him a dickhead that he felt that way. It wasn’t as if the men weren’t important to him—they were. But they also weren’t Oliver. Oliver would always be more important. No matter what he’d done in the past or the distance Matt kept between them, Oliver would always be one of the most important people in his world.

Oliver sucked in a deep breath and moved closer until he was standing between Matt’s legs. He knew something heavy would come out of Oliver’s mouth and Matt really didn’t want to deal with heavy at the moment so he said, “And you’re right, you are a big boy. If you don’t put your cock away, I’m going to be distracted.”

Oliver put his hand under Matt’s chin and tilted his head up so Matt looked at him. “Hmm. That’s a nice change. Maybe I’ll let myself enjoy it.” And then he brushed his thumb across Matt’s cheek, making a tremor vibrate through him before Oliver dropped his hand.
